Ben* got a job with Food Services through
Onarga Academy’s Grand Prairie School Vocational
Department. He worked hard and earned a food sanitation
certificate, which he hoped would help him find work after
treatment. When he got a job at Menards, the hiring manager
said Ben’s food sanitation certificate was a major factor in his hiring.
“He didn’t need it in this job,” he said, “but it did show he was motivated
for self-improvement, that he could learn new things, and that he could
finish what he started.” Ben used the Menards job as a springboard to a new
job, with more responsiblity and higher pay.
