This is what makes Kindred Family Focus different from all other foster care and adoption provid-ers. This is how we change the arc of a life. VALUES-ORIENTED Values are foundational to how we relate to the youth, families, and communities we serve. Choices are better influenced by values than rules, and integrating values into daily living leads to emotional, behavioral, and relational growth. RELATIONSHIP-BASED Positive change can only be achieved with relationships that are built on consistent engage-ment, trust, unconditional re-spect, and a willingness to listen SAFETY PERMANENCY WELL-BEING and learn. INDIVIDUALIZED AND STRENGTHS-FOCUSED Kindred Family Focus builds upon each youth and family’s skills, resources, and needs. Interventions, approaches and goals are individualized and strengths-focused to promote and utilize resiliency. CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE We strive to enhance our capac-ity to better understand those we work with and serve, and to integrate the values and cultur-al practices of all races, ethnic backgrounds, socio-economic status, sexual orientations, gen-der expressions, and faiths. TRAUMA-INFORMED We recognize, assess, and re-spond to the needs of those we serve by providing trauma-in-formed interventions and edu-cation to help manage related symptoms and support youth and families’ recovery. FAMILY-DRIVEN Kindred Family Focus places a high priority on a family’s needs, circumstances, and preferences in practice and policy decisions. Families are engaged as equal partners in the care of their children, and are recognized as experts in identifying the needs of their child and family. YOUTH-GUIDED We value youths’ preferences and requests about daily care and interventions. Staff and foster caregivers involve youth in developing their goals and sup-port plans. SKILL AND COMPETENCY- BASED We build the skills and compe-tencies of youth, families, foster caregivers, and staff. We collab-orate with those we serve to de-velop their social skills, emotional capacities, cognitive functioning, and problem-solving abilities so they can achieve sustainable success in school, community, and life. EVIDENCE-INFORMED Kindred Family Focus uses in-ternal data as well as the best available research and practices to mold our services and inform decision-making at all levels of the organization. OUTCOMES DRIVEN Kindred Family Focus recognizes that the ultimate purpose of our work is to improve the safety, permanency, and well-being out-comes of the youth and families we serve. We continually assess our progress and make choices to improve our service and pro-gram strategies. 5
