NOV/DEC 2018 | 2 6. Have a strong organization-wide identity between our services and affiliates This means that all services and affiliates of Nexus will share the Nexus brand. Having a strong national brand will help us make informed decisions about our shared identity and our individuality. A shared, transparent brand supports collaboration and efficiency in business practices, demands a higher quality of service, and positions Nexus as a thought leader within the field. 7. Establish efficient processes that support our infrastructure and strategic initiatives Efficient processes include an upgrade to our core electronic systems and reviewing and updating our workflow processes. 8. Develop a strong philanthropic culture and increase service sustainability The youth and families we serve have many needs, and we rely on the gratitude of others, both internally and externally, to help us provide resources to bring necessary services to life. As the needs of our clients grow, so do our fundraising needs. Therefore, we will develop a strong philanthropic culture and grow our fundraising base. But gratitude fundraising is not enough. As government funding narrows, we must also ensure that our programs are financially stable by achieving operational efficiency, improving individual program sustainability, and ensuring rates that will support our outcomes. 9. Enhance the employee experience There are a multitude of ways to enhance the employee experience. Our Human Resources department has rolled out key service commitments to respond to employee needs and is emphasizing the importance of employee well-being. Human Resources will continue these initiatives and will also focus on leadership development, training and staff development, and innovative recruitment and retention techniques, to name a few additional areas. 10. Demonstrate long-term outcomes and impact Every Nexus and affiliate service will have clearly identified long-term outcomes that we are working to achieve. We will know our outcomes and will strive to adjust our services, as needed, to achieve those outcomes for the benefit of those we serve. A vision is a great place to start, but it means nothing if it is not implemented. Vision and strategy must come together for the organization to achieve its purpose and mission. In January, I will outline the strategic direction we will take in 2019 to support my vision for the organization. A New Form of Communication is Coming Your Way! As Nexus grows and evolves, so do our needs for communication. Starting in 2019, Nexus will roll out an electronic employee newsletter in place of the Cornerstone magazine. Our donors and external audiences will also get a newsletter tailored to their needs. This is the last issue of the Cornerstone magazine.
